IPTV EPG Not Showing: Check Feed, Channel IDs & Timezones

A blank EPG does not necessarily mean the playlist or stream is broken. Keep programme data separate from playback and check the guide feed, channel identity, schedule coverage, timezone, and player behavior in that order.

Confirm the stream works first

Pick one channel that should have guide data and confirm its media entry works. If playback is working, focus the next tests on the EPG path rather than changing stream settings.

Check the EPG feed

Confirm that the configured EPG source returns the expected guide data and is currently reachable. An error page, expired endpoint, or incomplete feed can leave the player with no programme records.

  • Check the source response or documented status.
  • Confirm the feed covers the current time period.
  • Use the format supported by the player.
  • Do not expose private EPG URLs or credentials.

Check channel identifiers

EPG matching often depends on an identifier shared by the playlist and guide data. A channel can exist in both sources while still showing no programmes if those identifiers do not match.

  • Record the channel identifier from the playlist or service.
  • Find the same identifier in the EPG source.
  • Check for duplicate, regional, or language-specific entries.
  • Use documented manual mapping only after verifying the source data.

Check timezone and schedule coverage

If programmes are present but appear at the wrong times, compare the source timezone, device timezone, player settings, and daylight-saving handling. If programmes are absent entirely, first confirm that the feed contains current records.

Refresh the player only after validating the source

Some players cache guide data. Once the source and identifiers are correct, use the player's documented refresh or reload process. This helps distinguish stale local data from a source-side problem.

Quick answers

Common questions

Why is my EPG not showing while the playlist works?

The EPG source may be unavailable, channel identifiers may not match, schedule data may be incomplete, or the player may have stale or unsupported guide data.

Why are EPG times wrong?

Check timezone handling in the source, device, and player, including daylight-saving behavior where relevant.

Should I change channel mappings immediately?

First confirm that the EPG feed contains the expected channel identifier and current programme records. Change mappings only when the source data supports that change.
